Wednesday Wisdom – 26/10/2016

This week’s #WednesdayWisdom is all about looking at the glass as half full…

Wednesday Words of Wisdom, May 21, 2014:

I’ll be the first to admit that I have a hard time being an optimist. My mind has a habit of racing ten steps ahead…directly into the worst case scenario. Once there it sets up home and starts decorating, content in the knowledge that the reassuring fear and panic is on its way, hot chocolate in tow. It’s not exactly restful….or healthy!

What I would love, though, is to be one of those people who is able to see the best in every situation no matter how dire, staying calm and facing the challenge head-on. I have a friend like this who is eternally upbeat, optimistic and (more often than not) smiling. She could be having the worst day of her life but without even trying she’ll find the one good aspect of whatever is going wrong. It could be something new she’s learned about herself or the situation. It could be the laugh she got when she realised things were so bad that laughter was the only option. Or it could be knowledge that life is all about balance and a bad day today means a good one is on its way.

We could all stand to be a bit more like her, don’t you think?

I particularly like this week’s quote because it goes beyond the silver lining and encourages you to take a moment to readjust your focus, finding the fun and adventure in the experience and eliminating the feel of it all being an ordeal to endure.

This week I’ll be doing my best to recognise when I’m in one of these ‘ordeal’ moments and I’ll be taking the opportunity to see how it might be turned into an adventure.
